Border Ballads is a collection of 13 songs written by Hank Roberts based upon the historical research of Tom Rafiner.  The Missouri and Kansas border between 1854 - 1865, was a unique local microcosm of the national event known as the American Civil War.  Hank has set to music the stories unearthed by Tom about various people and events from that time period.

Most of the stories can be found in Tom's first book, Caught Between Three Fires. Artist Brian Hawkins drew the DVD's cover.
